PNEUMA : [숨]
Hanji as Breath : Layered Pulse
Permeate, Diffuse, Transmit, Breathe
스미다, 번지다, 비치다, 숨쉬다
Group PNEUMA is a collaborative platform centered on Hanji, the traditional Korean paper, as both a shared material and conceptual ground. Pneuma—meaning breath, spirit, and vital force—frames our exploration of time, materiality, and relational presence.
In this collaboration, Hanji is not a neutral support but a living material carrying memory and the traces of touch. Formed through water, repetition, and waiting, it retains its own resistance and permeability, allowing each artist’s gestures to coexist with the paper’s inherent qualities.
The work unfolds not through a singular authorial voice but through layering, transparency, and interval, creating a spatial rhythm. Forms emerge, overlap, and recede, reflecting processes of migration, residue, and transformation.
Group PNEUMA approaches collaboration as a fluid structure. The installation does not present a fixed narrative but invites viewers to dwell within subtle shifts of light, space, and material presence.
Through this practice, the group investigates the fragility and continuity of existence, proposing collaboration itself as an open, permeable, and living process.
